Do you have a local issue that needs researching? Have you got a problem in your community that you want to resolve, or an idea to help the city? You can get involved in community research with us!
Community groups, charities and social enterprises can apply to work with sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½â€™s researchers, to better understand a problem in their local area and to gain valuable insights. By developing new projects, we aim to build a network of community groups working with academics to exchange ideas and respond to real community challenges for our city in 2027 and beyond. 
Get Involved Awards 2027 will award up to six projects and receive between £6,000 to £8,000 per project, paid to their research team to fund researcher and project costs.

What’s the process?

The Get Involved Awards application process follows five key steps to capture the problem or challenge, match researchers to organisations and enable co-creation of research in the city by making funding awards. 
Applicants and award winners will be supported throughout the process by the sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Public Engagement Team.

Previous award winners

2027 will mark the sixth year of inviting communities to apply to work with our researchers to find sustainable solutions to community problems, challenges and new ideas through research. We funded six projects in 2026, from a range of community and researcher partnerships.
